How to Update Task Status
Updating task status keeps the whole team aligned on project progress. It ensures Project Managers, Account Managers, and teammates know exactly what stage each task is in.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1 — Log In
- Go to [projects.forgemarketing.com] or open the project management app.
- Sign in with your Forge Marketing email and password.
Step 2 — Navigate to Your Workspace
- From your dashboard, select the relevant Workspace.
- Open the Board or Task List for your project.
Step 3 — Find Your Task
- Locate the task assigned to you.
- Use filters (e.g., My Tasks, Due This Week) if needed to narrow down results.
Step 4 — Update the Status
- Click on the Status field next to the task.
- Choose the appropriate stage:
- Not Started — task is logged but no work yet.
- In Progress — work is actively being done.
- Blocked — cannot continue until a dependency is resolved.
- Review — task is completed but awaiting approval.
- Done — task is finished and approved.
Step 5 — Add Notes (Optional)
- Use the Comments or Updates section to provide context.
- Example: “Waiting on client feedback before proceeding” or “Draft ready for review.”
Step 6 — Save Changes
- Click Save (if required) or confirm that the status has been updated automatically.
- Team members will receive a notification of the update.
Best Practices
- Always update the status immediately when task progress changes.
- Use Blocked if you’re stuck — this alerts the Project Manager to step in.
- Keep comments professional, factual, and client-ready if needed.
- Review your My Tasks list daily to ensure statuses are accurate.
